Celebrity Bridesmaids Dresses

It's the twentieth century's favourite piece of clothing. Who would have thought that a humble workman's fabric would become the staple of every wardrobe, no matter what culture, taste or class? Denim has been worn since the mid eighteenth century, being produced by the cotton factories in the United States under George Washington.

Since those beginnings over 200 years ago, denim has become a fashion statement - its utility and reasonably-priced quality and durability was never intended to be sold as a luxury item or source of envy. Yet in 2010, the jeans you wear, and how you wear them, are analysed and advertised to us all day long, in magazines, on TV and in movies.

The usual fashion feature on jeans will give you a rundown of what shapes are on offer, and what those shapes mean for the wearer. Skinny jeans: rock chick/under-nourished glamour girl. High-waisted: 50s and 80s-inspired trendies and design students. Boyfriend: off-duty, relaxed, feminine girls who can pull it off.

But does any of that really matter? Is there really a language of denim? And is it possible to find a pair of jeans which just…fit, rather than say something about you?

Whilst you can spend £200 upwards on a super-selective designer pair of jeans, the sensible option is to find something that allows denim to do what it does best: be cheap, wearable and available to anyone. For that reason, the high street is a good place to start - online and on the pavements.

Try shops like New Look for their styles of jeans; they have denim sections of their own, and with the prices much lower than designer competitors, their shapes are already more appealing to the shopper on a budget.

What is more, because jeans go through a lot of wear and tear, you get much better value for money with a cheaper pair of versatile New Look jeans, for example, than Victoria Beckham diamond-studded couture. After all, you don't want to spend £200 a go on a wardrobe staple that needs re-vamping every year or so.

A stock situation of romantic comedy films is the horror of the bridesmaid?s dress, something chosen by the bride that everyone else finds absolutely hideous and hates the thought of wearing. In reality, though, modern bridesmaids? dresses are some of the most stylish and fashionable designs on the market, with hundreds of different colours and styles to choose from, such as the very dresses available at www.very.co.uk. This is exemplified in the world of the rich in famous, with more and more celebrities getting hitched and choosing spectacular dresses for their bridesmaids to wear.

When pop singer Britney Spears married Kevin Federline in 2004, her wedding dress was designed by Monique Lhuillier. Little sister Jamie Lynn Spears acted as her maid of honour, and she and the other four attendants wore dresses by the same designer in a deep shade of burgundy, a bold choice that gave the bridesmaids a sophisticated and luxurious look.

Childhood co-star of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera married music marketing executive Jordan Bratman in 2005. Her bridesmaids wore pink, tight fitting dresses that highlighted their smooth silhouettes. The dresses were designed by Kai Milla, the wife of none other than Stevie Wonder.

At the first wedding of Jennifer Lopez in 1997 to the Cuban-born Ojani Noa, she chose a traditional option for her bridesmaids by dressing them in pastel tones. The delicate dresses themselves were Escada, and worn in soft shades by all the women in Lopez?s bridal party.

In 2005, a One Tree Hill wedding took place when two members of the cast, Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush, tied the knot after almost two years of dating. For their spring ceremony, the bridesmaids wore bright, apple green dresses.

There seems to be no limit to the colours, styles and designers chosen by celebrities to dress their bridesmaids on their big day. Celebrity weddings just go to show how many different options there are out there for your wedding as well, whether you take inspiration from someone else or decide to go it alone and choose something totally original and unique to you.
